Speaker: Matthias Neubert (Cornell University) Date: Wed Apr 18, 2001, 4.30 pm Location: Wean 7316 Title: Flavor Delicacies Abstract: In their second year of operation, the B factories BaBar and Belle (together with CLEO) are providing a wealth of new data on CP violation and rare decays in the B system, which are beginning to have an impact on our understanding of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism of quark flavor mixing. Ongoing advances in this rapidly growing field are discussed, and some possibilities for new flavor physics beyond the Standard Model are explored.
