Abstract: The inflaton field range is directly related to the amount of inflation and the tensor/scalar ratio a given model predicts. In scenarios where the inflaton field has a more fundamental origin, there are often underlying constraints on the field range which can guide our expectations for the type of predictions the fundamental theory can reasonably make. In this talk, I will use the example of brane inflation to explore the relationship between the moduli space of the canonical inflaton and that of the underlying scalar field. I will discuss the observational implications of extending the field range using wrapped branes.
